Winter is practically here, and with it come certain tasks and responsibilities that we cannot overlook. The inspection of our vehicles during the fall is one of those tasks.
Soon the roads will be covered with snow and ice, we’ll have fewer hours of sun, and depending on the weather conditions (rain or fog), we’ll also have poor visibility while driving. All this increases the risk of accidents and with temperatures dropping below zero plus the ongoing pandemic, requesting a towing service or road support won’t be an easy task.
That’s why the best thing we can recommend is: Get ready!
Schedule an appointment with your trusted technician and make sure he/she checks the following items on your vehicle.
Tires are the first thing to check, as they are your vehicle’s only contact with the road, rain, ice, and snow. This is critical in bad conditions or with inadequate tire pressures.
Another item to examine is the battery since extreme temperatures (both hot and cold) affect its useful life and performance. In the cold, if the battery is not in good condition, it will lack the necessary power to start the vehicle.
The fluid levels (lubricating oil, coolant (or antifreeze), brake fluid, or windshield washer fluid) are another point to consider and review. This way, you’ll have the engine properly lubricated and avoid problems in the cooling system.
Don’t forget to check the brakes and shock absorbers to ensure that they’re in good condition.
As you can see, there are several factors that we must examine and consider if we want to drive safely during the winter. At BDS Fleet Service, we have special packages that allow you to check and replace the parts you need efficiently and at a competitive price.
